Power transmission is one of the main applications for ferrite cores and generally implemented by switching power supplies (SMPS). Depending on the type of converter, ferrites act either under conditions of saturation or loss limit, whereby special ferrite materials with high saturation magnetization and low losses are required even at high temperatures. The application frequency is one of the parameters that determines the ferrite material to be used.
